Unix System Administrator

Basic Demonstrated Skills Required. (Candidates must meet all to qualify.)
Candidates must be able to:

Maintain responsibility for day-to-day systems integration, management, support and maintenance of a large Solaris 8 UNIX based environment.
Interface with, and work closely with, other members of the Oahu NOC training function, staff, NT System Administrator and engineers.
Work a shift to provide 24x7 network coverage.
Provide support for drive arrays.
Ensure problem resolution by maintaining an action plan/project plan.
Manage at a high level of systems administration.
Provide responsibility for set ups, installs, troubleshooting, ongoing optimization, and maintenance of internal and external servers, and other software and hardware support.
Provide strong inter-personal/communication skills, using strong skills to write project plans, lead project teams, and lead problem solving activities.
Solidly understand Sun Solaris inter-process communications, devices, and what device drivers do, and file system concepts.
Specify and implement security strategies using Raytheon firewalls, service lockdowns, intrusion detection and response tools.
Demonstrate familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts to interface with Windows 2000.
Understand basic routing concepts, TCP/IP networking skills (routing, firewall installation and maintenance, load balancing UNIX service administration, including POP/IMAP, FTP, NFS Backup and fail-over methodologies and implementations).
Demonstrate knowledge and experience with LANs, WANs, Worldcom routers, bridges and firewalls.
Document and communicate all activities to intra-shift administrators concerning Unix problems, solutions, and upgrades.
